While browsing my local comic shop (Heroic Adventures), I stumbled upon this new 5 part Wonderland mini-series from Zenescope.  Wonderland Asylum is a part of the Grimm Fairy Tale Wonderland series, taking place after Wonderland #19.

The first thing everyone sees is the cover.  This particular cover (pictured above), as well as the other 4 variant covers, are all simple and clean yet eye catching.

The story lines are very dark, borderline horror.  Wonderland Asylum, in my opinion, is the darkest yet.  There are not a lot of words to this particular issue, but the parts that do contain dialogue or words of any type are very well written and well structured.

If you are familiar with the Grimm Fairy Tale lines, they take everyday characters from fairy tales and give them a very risque, burlesque makeover. The artwork is phenomenal.  Every panel is greatly detailed.  I am a huge fan of unique artwork, especially in comic books, and Tony Brescini delivered some of the most unique art I have ever seen between two covers.  Fran Gamboa and J.C. Ruiz did a fantastic job with the colors. They are vibrant and eye catching.

Overall, I really enjoyed Wonderland Asylum, and would recommend it to anyone that has been a fan of the previous Grimm Fairy Tales books.  I fully intend to collect the entire mini-series.  Part 2 of 5 will be available Wednesday, February 19th
