Steel City Con- Pennsylvania’s Premier Comic Con

26197_105888466109237_1230232_nAttention comic book fans and horror nerds alike, celebrating 25 years, Steel City Con is returning to the Monroeville Convention Center Friday, April 10-Sunday, April 12th. If you’re looking for 100,000 square feet of comic and pop culture goodness, Steel City Con is the convention for you.

Who will be attending this event to make it even more special? Celebrity guests include Noah Wyle (Falling Skies), Tara Reid (Sharknado), Addy Miller (The Walking Dead), Tom Wopat (The Dukes of Hazzard), John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), R.A. Mihailoff (Leatherface), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Alex Vincent (Child’s Play), Ari Lehman (the first Jason Friday the 13th) and many more. Ari will also be doing a special meet and great that Friday the 13th fans may want to jump on.

Autograph prices always have fans wondering how much they need to save up. Steel City Con was kind enough to supply convention goers with a list of autograph prices to help avoid sticker shock. View the autograph and photo op prices here>>> Celebrity Autograph & Photo Op Prices <<<.

Convention admission can also get a bit pricey, especially if you are bringing the whole family. For being a comic and pop culture convention, Steel City Con is quite affordable. Single day passes are only $20 and 3 day passes are only $40. 3 day pass holders also get to enter the convention at 9:30 am on Friday (30 minutes before single day pass holders). Children under 5 are FREE. Parking is also free and there are currently reduced hotel rates for the out-of-town guests. You can purchase your tickets at SteelCityCon.com/Buy-Tickets.

One of my personal favorite parts of a convention are the celebrity Q&A panels. Steel City Con is loaded with top notch panels. 3 day pass holders will see a perk here as well, you get priority seating. Find the Q&A and event schedule here>>>Q&A and Event Schedule<<<.

Cosplayers and trivia buffs, there will be something for you as well. On Friday from noon-12:45 there will be a trivia contest with tons of great prizes up for grabs (it is open to everyone). On Sunday, there will be a costume contest from 1-3 pm. The costume contest is free to enter and there is $3,000 worth of cash and prizes up for grabs.

Review: Contamination- A Convention Story

424283_165263613592014_696506072_nConventions of all genres are filling our nation giving horror, sci-fi and pop culture fans alike a platform to mingle with one another and meet their favorite genre celebrities. Most of us only get to see what goes on in front of us, but thanks to State Of Mind Productions and the Contamination convention in St. Louis, fans now have the opportunity to see behind the scenes and fell the true essence of a convention.

I was recently granted the opportunity to watch and review Contamination- A Convention Story. What is Contamination? Contamination is a convention held in St. Louis that blends together horror, sci-fi, pop culture and stars from the adult entertainment world into one event. I am normally not a huge fan of documentaries, but this one is worth the watch.

I have personally been to a few conventions and have had the opportunity to meet some of my horror heroes, and they have been some of the best experiences of my adult life. The only problem with meeting some of these celebrity guests? You’re not really sure if they are really that into it, but Contamination- A Convention Story gives an in-depth look into not only the conventions, but the guests, and they are all genuinely fantastic human beings.

You get to hear from some of the biggest names on the convention circuit such as Kane Hodder (Hatchet), Tony Todd (Candyman), Bill Johnson (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) and many more. It is great to hear how they truly feel about conventions and the fans they encounter.

If you are looking for an informative, genuinely amazing documentary on a convention and the feel of what it is like to attend one, I would highly recommend picking up Contamination– A Convention Story. It is not ridiculously long like many other documentaries, but it is packed with interviews, fan insights and much more.
