Convention Updates: HorrorHound Weekend Cincinnati March 20-22nd (2 days away)

header

We are now only 2 days out from HorrorHound Weekend Cincinnati, and there are even more updates pouring in. More additions, cancellations and Norman Reedus photo op questions answered.

As mentioned in yesterday’s HHW update post, megastar of The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus is now SATURDAY ONLY. This brought forth questions from fans about the photo ops they have purchased, well this was said in the HHW group on Facebook:

NORMAN REEDUS PHOTO OPS:

OK gang, here’s what’s going on for all Norman Reedus photo ops at HorrorHound this weekend. All tickets will be honored on Saturday, If you have a Friday ticket and can’t make it on Saturday email us immediately at info@celebphotoops.com about a refund. Time is of the essence.

We will still be selling all Saturday photo ops for Norman on site, on a cash only basis. We want everyone to get their photo. We’ll shoot as long as there are people there to shoot.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all again at the Sharonville Convention Center this weekend starting at 5pm.

The newest cancellation to note is Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead). He unfortunately had to cancel due to work on a Ben Affleck film. The amazing HorrorHound Crew did however make a new addition to the roster, Regan MacNeil herself, Linda Blair.

If you purchased a photo op with George Wendt (Cheers, House), you are in for a big treat. George will be dressing up as his beloved character Norm from Cheers for photo ops.

The Sharonville Convention Center is a large building, and when you’re swept up in the glow of the convention awesomeness, it can be a little difficult to make a game plan or find your way around. Maps of the convention layout along with a coded guide to which guests will be in which rooms has been released.

The final update is kind of an ironic one. Old Spice, yes the deodorant company, will be on hand giving out samples.

With so many last minute changes being made, Nathan and the rest of the HorrorHound Crew are being swamped with emails and questions in the Facebook group and Facebook like page. To ensure that everyone sees the important updates and everyone gets their questions answered, be sure to check out FAQ section of HorrorHoundWeekend.com, it has been updated and many of the most asked questions can be answered there.

I can personally only provide so many updates. To keep up to date on the minute to minute changes, be sure to join the HorrorHound Weekend Group and like the HorrorHound Weekend Facebook page. More updates have been added to HorrorHoundWeekend.com as well.

Here’s to hoping Norman Reedus does not cancel for all those that have purchased photo op and VIPs to meet him, and wishing him a world of luck for cramming 3 days into 1, he is one amazing individual.

Hope to see you all there!

Convention Update: HorrorHound Weekend Cincinnati March 20-22nd 2015

header

HorrorHound Weekend Cincinnati begins this Friday, March 20th, and updates continue to pour in. Guest additions, guest cancellations and more have been announced, and I am here to give you the most important changes.

Let’s start with guest changes. I’m sure most of you are aware that Norman Reedus will now be appearing SATURDAY ONLY. Below is a quote from Nathan Hanneman (the guy awesome enough to put the convention on) about why this is.

“Due to being booked for a talk show in LA later this week, we are put in the position to move Norman Reedus’ flights around to try and get him to HorrorHound Weekend – and it appears there will be no way for him to make it to Cincinnati in time to sign on Friday evening – meaning, Norman will now be a Saturday-only appearance. We were just informed of this change and are working out the details, but wanted to post this news ASAP. More information ill be posted as soon as we have it, including updates from his management direct.” – Nathan Hanneman

Another change has been made that will affect how long you may have to wait to meet The Walking Dead superstar. Reedus’ line will not really be a line per-say, when the doors open, a “ticket line queue” will begin. Basically, you go to Norman’s table and pick up a ticket, said ticket will have a number on it, a bit like taking a number at a deli, this will keep everyone from having to stand in a huge line for just one autograph. For more information on this ticket line queue, visit the FAQ section of HorrorHoundWeekend.com

Unfortunately, guest cancellations are common due to schedule conflicts. There have only been 4 cancellations this year. Those cancellations include Alex Winter (The Lost Boys), Jason Patric (The Lost Boys), Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog) and Mitch Pileggi (Shocker). Now that the bummer news of cancellations is out of the way, there have been some pretty awesome additions, C. Thomas Howell (The Hitcher), Mark Boone Junior (Sons of Anarchy) and Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead).

No autograph price list has been released, the HorrorHound Weekend Crew is just as unaware of autograph prices prior to the show as we are. The only ones for certain are AJ Bowen (You’re Next) and Pat Healy (Cheap Thrills), who will be signing for FREE.

extramoneyAutographs are typically the most expensive part of conventions, so if you need a little bit of extra money for those names and have some collectibles laying around collecting dust, visit Wayne and Rob at the “The Print-Pixs Booth”.

The biggest change aside from the ticket line queues for high demand guests for this year is the Coco Key Water Park Party. This year, the party is pre-sale only, and the tickets have already sold out according to the ticket site.

There are a lot of exciting films being screened this year including the world premiere of Old 37 starring Kane Hodder and Bill Moseley. Not only will the film be screening, but Kane Hodder himself will be in attendance, pretty awesome bonus. The film that was dubbed the scariest film of the past decade will be screening as well, The Babadock. For full film festival schedule, visit HorrorHoundWeekend.com/events.

On top of all of the fantastic guests, don’t forget about the Re-Animator reunion which will include Jeffrey Combs, Stuart Gordon, Bruce Abbott, Barbara Crampton, Carolyn Purdy-Gordon and Dennis Paoli. For full guest list, be sure to check out HorrorHoundWeekend.com/guests

Convention Update: HorrorHound Weekend Cincinnati 2015

header

Convention season is upon us, and one of the biggest horror cons is only a couple weeks away, HorrorHound Weekend Cincinnati has had some new guest announcements, schedules are being made, ticket prices are changing and so on and so forth. So, who will be joining the ranks along with the already announced Re-Animator reunion?

Some of the new names that have been announced include Jason Mewes (Mallrats), Norman Reedus (Friday and Saturday ONLY)(The Walking Dead), Kane Hodder (Hatchet), Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps), Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary), Tom Atkins (Night of the Creeps), Madison Lintz (The Walking Dead), Jason Patric (The Lost Boys), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story), Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy), Alanna Masterson (The Walking Dead), Lawrence Gilliard (The Walking Dead), Terrance Zdunich (The Devil’s Carnival) and Jesse Hutch (Freddy vs. Jason). You can find the full guest list >>HERE<<.

Unfortunately, every convention is subject to having guests cancel due to work or scheduling conflicts. There have been only two cancellations as of now for this year’s Cincinnati show, Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog) and Alex Winter (The Lost Boys).

One of my personal favorite parts of conventions, especially HorrorHound, is the awesome list of films that will be screened. This years list includes some pretty promising looking films. I have only seen one of them, The Other Side, which I reviewed. You can read that review >>HERE<<. The one that I am most excited to see is Old 37 starring Kane Hodder and Bill Moseley. I’ve heard so many great things about the film, and it is finally getting a showing and will be released on DVD later in March. See the full list of films being screened along with a bit of information on them >>HERE<<.

Panels are another reason many go to conventions. HorrorHound has an impressive guest list, so of course the list of panels is going to be just as awesome. Some of them include an Old 37 panel, American Mary panel, Guardians of the Galaxy panel, Re-Animator panel and more to be scheduled. For the full list of panels and times, visit the events section.

What fun would a horror convention be without a great list of vendors to buy some cool sh!t from? HorrorHound always has one of the largest vendor lists around, and their vendor room is a horror nerd’s Wonderland. Some of the vendors on tap for this year include Dark Sky Films, Dead Ink, Living Dead Dolls, Samhain Horror, Scarebears, Super Pumpkins, Troma and so many more. For the full list, visit the vendor section of HorrorHoundWeekend.com.

As usual, the closer you wait to the date of the convention, the higher the ticket prices will be. There are still pre-sale tickets available. Single day passes are $20, Weekend passes are $40, VIP passes are $175 and weekend passes with early entry are SOLD OUT.  Pick up your tickets now at HorrorHoundWeekend.com to avoid higher prices, sell outs and longer lines at the door.

Planning on staying a couple of days of the entire weekend? Hotels near the Sharonville Convention Center are filling up fast. You may want to get your reservations made quickly to avoid longer travel times. Here is the full list of the closest hotels.

Video Game Review: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (with some “cheats”)

The Walking Dead Survival Instinct-coverI know I’m late on this review, but this has been a highly requested review from a few of my readers.  I also decided to do this to test the possibility of maybe doing more video game reviews.

I picked up The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct the weekend it was available.  As a fan of The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker, naturally I had to give this game a try.  Like many other video games, everyone plays it differently and different people are better at certain games, like me, I suck at sports games, but I have a natural gift with this type of game.

The graphics and story line of the game were amazing.  It was nice to see the Dixon brothers get their own game.  On a scale of 1 to 10 how challenging the game was for me, at first a 7, but once I played a couple of levels, it went down to about a 4.  Below, I added a cheat of mine to make missions go a bit faster.

When the game first starts, you are playing as Daryl and Merle’s father on a hunting trip, but only for a couple minutes then you die and play as Daryl.  I loved that there was an overall mission, find Merle and evacuate,  to the game and it wasn’t about just running around and killing walkers.  There is a mission for every level whether it be saving a survivor, finding a part for your car, finding gas or of course, finding supplies.  I liked that the level of difficulty of each mission fluctuated.  Unlike most games, the missions didn’t get harder as the game went on, but went up and down.  As a matter of fact, I had the most difficulty in the middle of the game as apposed to the  end.  The game does not plateau like many others of this genre do.

I liked the over all flow of the game, but I do have a couple of complaints.  For starters, you can’t choose which Dixon you want to be, you have to be Daryl, sorry Merle fans.  I understand why this is, but it would be cool to be able to choose Merle or Daryl.  My next complaint, the way the game saves.  I don’t know if this is just for Xbox 360 or all consoles, but the only way to save was to complete a level.  If you don’t complete the level you are on, you have to start it over.  A save option would have been nice.  My final complaint is the length of the game.  It is way too short.  I would love to see a part two of this game with some more options and maybe a bit more length to it.

All in all, I really liked The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.  Even if you’re not a big gamer, the game is fun.  It is a must have for any fan of The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus, Michael Rooker and of course, our favorite dysfunctional, fictional brothers, Daryl and Merle Dixon.

*My Personal Cheat*

At first, I struggled, but I quickly found easy ways to get through missions.  For example, when I had to find a part to fix the car, this is after you get the crossbow, I would find a car or a truck and stand on top of it.  After I was in the center of the roof, I would fire a gun and bring all of the walkers out.  They would surround the car then I would switch back to the crossbow and kill all of the faster ones that came out.  After that, you have a walker free environment and tasks become much easier.

Convention Season: Fright Night Horror Weekend (Film Fest)

wp2ac2dede_05_06

Horror and comic book fans alike are getting really excited this time of year.  Why?  Convention season!  A group of friends and myself love to frequent horror/comic conventions.  As I said in a previous post, I attended HorrorHound Weekend Cincinnati back in March of this year.  It was a total madhouse, but I loved it.

There are a lot of really great conventions coming up this year, and Kentucky appears to be a big hub for conventions this year.  The weekend of July 26-28 is Fright Night Horror Weekend in Louisville.  Fright Night is going to be a horror convention with some very familiar faces from the comic book world.  This includes the legend Stan Lee, Kevin Smith, and Jason Mewes.

As far as the horror community, there is going to be a Walking Dead reunion with Norman Reedus, Michael Rooker, Chandler Riggs, Lew Temple, and Vincent Ward.  They are looking to add more cast members from The Walking Dead.  Horror icon and master slasher Kane Hodder will be there too.   Other horror guests include the 2003 and 2006 Leatherface Andrew Bryniarski, Texas Chainsaw 3D’s Sam  Mckenzie, the gorgeous Kate Norby and more to be announced.

Fright Night Horror Weekend will also be host to cast members of Firefly, Dr. Who, and FACEOFF.  Grant Wilson, formerly of Ghost Hunters, will be on hand as well as other familiar faces from TV.

If you are bored the weekend of July 26-28 or just want to take a fun road trip, head to Louisville for Fright Night Horror Weekend.  For more information on this event, click the link below for tickets, more guests and other updates.

Norman Reedus: The King of Fandom

Celebrities Visit SiriusXM Studios

I know I know, another girl writing about Norman Reedus blah blah blah.  He is the king of fandom for a reason, not only his looks earn him this title.  Norman has often said in interviews that he is “emotionally damaged”, and in my opinion this is what gives him his awkward charm.  Everywhere he goes is instantly turned into a fangirl (and even some fanboys) frenzy.  I was at HorrorHound Cincinnati in March of this year and it was utter chaos.  Norman was swamped with so many fans that he stayed late every night, even missing his flight home on Sunday.  This is what I was talking about when I said that it is not just his looks that make people love him.  He is a genuinely nice guy.

Norman Reedus is one of the most naturally gifted actors around.  Sean Patrick Flanery said it best when he said that the role of Daryl Dixon was written for Reedus.  My personal favorite role that he played was Harry Odum in 1997’s Six Ways to Sunday.  He was awkward yet he was still a total badass.  Not many people can make a seamless transition from Prada model to an all-out onscreen badass like he has.  Mr. Reedus is not just an awesome actor, but he is also a gifted writer, director and photographer.  His company is called Big Bald Head.

Norman is an avid “tweeter”(that sounds like a dirty word) and “Instagramer” and he does the best he can to keep his fans up to date and interact with them. No matter if you’ve loved Reedus since Van in Floating, Murphy in The Boondock saints, or Daryl from The Walking Dead, you understand completely what I am saying.  So guys, next time you have a smartass remark about how girls are only fanning over Reedus because of his looks, keep it to yourself.

BigtimeTeez.com “Dixon Crossbows T-Shirt” Review

Dixon-Crossbows-150x150

I am a huge fan of The Walking Dead and Norman Reedus, who isn’t?, so it only made sense to buy this awesome shirt. Below this review, I will include the link to this product and a coupon code to get you 15% off your entire order.

I ordered this shirt in a women’s slim fit XL in military green.  The fit was incredible and super comfortable.  The material is preshrunk so I didn’t have to panic about is shrinking when I dried it.  The color did not fade at all and it has been washed a lot.  The screen printing is amazing quality and is not showing any signs of cracking or peeling.  There are no signs of holes in this shirt yet like a lot of the soft cotton preshrunk shirts get after a while,  and I have had it for months and have worn it a lot.

I wore this shirt to HorrorHound weekend in Cincinnati and I got all kinds of compliments on it and a lot of people wanting to know where to get it.  This shirt is a must have for any Walking Dead/Norman Reedus fan. I have looked all over for a Daryl Dixon shirt that was not over the top girly and I finally found a place that sells the cool designs you get in a guy’s shirt, but on a shirt that was fit for a female form. I love this shirt so much that I placed an order for a second one in black.

The shipping on both shirts was incredibly fast.  The price was about half of what the store in the mall wanted for shirts that weren’t even half as cool.  This shirt was $18.99 both times that I ordered it, but BigtimeTeez has since lowered their prices.

I sincerely hope that anyone reading this will give this shirt and others from this incredible site a chance.  You without a doubt get your money’s worth.

Where you can buy the shirt: Dixon Crossbows T-Shirt

Coupon code for 15% off: miss15

Stay tuned for more reviews.
