Updates and Changes For Epic-Con Ohio

Convention season is now in full swing, and for citizens of Ohio and others traveling to Epic-Con Ohio in Dayton, there are a lot of updates learn. Epic-Con Ohio is only 55 days away starting Friday, October 24th and running through Sunday, October 26th.

One of the biggest additions is a Free Willy reunion with a very rare convention appearance by Jason James Richter and Lori Petty (Tank Girl). More notable additions to the already phenomenal guest lists include Tiffany Shepis (Shaknado 2), Robert Mukes (House of 1000 Corpses), Jennifer Jostyn (House of 1000 Corpses), Anne Bobby (Nightbreed) and making his first con appearance ever, Tom Wright (Tales From the Crypt) . All quests are confirmed, but can cancel due to professional obligations.

The one thing any fan dreads seeing when they look at a con’s guest list is the cancellation of their favorite stars. Unfortunately, things come up and cancellations must be made. Epic-Con has had a few guests have to bow out of this year’s con. Kane Hodder, Bill Moseley, Richard Horvitz and Janet Jay have all had to cancel. One more name could be on that list, Jake “The Snake” Roberts has been hospitalized for health reasons, but is still set to appear at he con. Read more about that and updates on his condition HERE.

One of the main attractions for this year’s con is the screening of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed Director’s Cut. This screening will be on Saturday, October 25th at 7:30 pm. Actors Simon Bamford, Anne Bobby and Chris McCorkindale will be in attendance for the screening.

For two night’s only, October 24th and 25th, The Powell Road Death March Haunted Trail will be open. For more information on this attraction, the charity it benefits and ticket prices, head over to deathmarch.org.

Many fans complain about Sundays at conventions, but Epic-Con has a few fun surprises up their sleeves for their fans. On Sunday ONLY, Tim Shockey and The Green Goblin Head from the Stephan King classic, Maximum Overdrive, will be in attendance. Get your picture taken with a piece of cinematic history and shake the hand of the man that restored this amazing work of art. Many remember Steve Cardenas as the Red Ranger from the 90’s hit television series The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but he is now a karate master. Master Cardenas will be giving FREE, yes FREE, karate lessons Sunday only.

Those are all of the Epic-Con Ohio updates I have for you now, but I will continue to keep everyone updated. To keep an eye on the new guest announcements, cancellations and other updates, be sure to like Epic-Con on Facebook.

Epic-Con will feature not only the best in geek fandom, but also horror, sci-fi, art and much more. The growing guest list and number of awesome events are getting better everyday. The biggest one to note is the EXCLUSIVE pre-release screening of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed Director’s Cut. Not only will the film be screened, but there will also be some of the members of the cast there to enjoy the film with you. A couple that have already been confirmed include Simon Bamford (Ohnaka) and Chris McCorkindale (Shuna Sassi) and there are more to be announced. Another film that will be screened is Knights of Badassdom, directed by Joe Lynch (Holliston, Wrong Turn 2 (director)). For full list of film screenings, CLICK HERE.

Film screenings will not be the only extra fans can take in. There will be a Special Effects Contest that will be judged by the Monster Man himself, Cleve Hall and other great names in the business. R.J. Hardy and Roy Wooley of syfy’s FaceOff will be judging cosplay skits on Saturday and Sunday. What would a Geek Fest be without a Nerd Off!? This contest will match contestants against each other in a battle of Geekdom. There will be prizes and the competition will be filmed. There will also be a Custom Vehicle Show for those of you with an awesome car inspired by the vehicles from a movie or 1231192_218524021676118_33148290_ntelevision show. Every convention has what is called a conbook. The conbook usually includes the names and pictures of the guest and the schedules

of the events and panels. Epic-Con is holding a competition for all of you artists out there to design this year’s cover for the conbook. If you think you have a piece of art that would work great for this year’s cover, you can submit your work to sheri@jackbyte.com. Obviously, the winning piece will be the cover, but the artist of the winning piece will receive a free pass to the convention.
