Steel City Con- Pennsylvania’s Premier Comic Con

26197_105888466109237_1230232_nAttention comic book fans and horror nerds alike, celebrating 25 years, Steel City Con is returning to the Monroeville Convention Center Friday, April 10-Sunday, April 12th. If you’re looking for 100,000 square feet of comic and pop culture goodness, Steel City Con is the convention for you.

Who will be attending this event to make it even more special? Celebrity guests include Noah Wyle (Falling Skies), Tara Reid (Sharknado), Addy Miller (The Walking Dead), Tom Wopat (The Dukes of Hazzard), John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), R.A. Mihailoff (Leatherface), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Alex Vincent (Child’s Play), Ari Lehman (the first Jason Friday the 13th) and many more. Ari will also be doing a special meet and great that Friday the 13th fans may want to jump on.

Autograph prices always have fans wondering how much they need to save up. Steel City Con was kind enough to supply convention goers with a list of autograph prices to help avoid sticker shock. View the autograph and photo op prices here>>> Celebrity Autograph & Photo Op Prices <<<.

Convention admission can also get a bit pricey, especially if you are bringing the whole family. For being a comic and pop culture convention, Steel City Con is quite affordable. Single day passes are only $20 and 3 day passes are only $40. 3 day pass holders also get to enter the convention at 9:30 am on Friday (30 minutes before single day pass holders). Children under 5 are FREE. Parking is also free and there are currently reduced hotel rates for the out-of-town guests. You can purchase your tickets at SteelCityCon.com/Buy-Tickets.

One of my personal favorite parts of a convention are the celebrity Q&A panels. Steel City Con is loaded with top notch panels. 3 day pass holders will see a perk here as well, you get priority seating. Find the Q&A and event schedule here>>>Q&A and Event Schedule<<<.

Cosplayers and trivia buffs, there will be something for you as well. On Friday from noon-12:45 there will be a trivia contest with tons of great prizes up for grabs (it is open to everyone). On Sunday, there will be a costume contest from 1-3 pm. The costume contest is free to enter and there is $3,000 worth of cash and prizes up for grabs.

ScareFest 7 is roughly only two months away now. Since the last article, there have been some changes, new additions and more announced for this year.  This year’s convention is shaping up to be the best one yet.

To kick off the exciting new announcements, I will start with the new guest additions. Joining the already impressive guest list are: Alex Vincent (Child’s Play 1 & 2), Gary Busey (Silver Bullet & Predator 2), Jake Busey (The Frighteners & Stoned Age), Amy Allan (The Dead Files), Santiago Cirilo (The Walking Dead), Catherine Hicks (Child’s Play 1 & 3), Patrick Burns (Paranormal Investigator/speaker), Wickedbeard (one of the country’s top cosplayers), Circus Envy and The Deadly Sins, and Sebastian Murphy and Kay Kutta (season 2 of Spike TV’s INK MASTERS). Joining the celebrity guest will also be a few impersonators. Derek White (Louis De Pointe Du Lac impersonator) and a full show (which will be FREE) by Michael Jackson impersonator, Bobby Miller. There has also been an addition to the list of fantastic seminars, a seminar by Cold Case Investigator Todd Matthews. For full guest list, CLICK HERE .

One of my favorite parts of a conventions has to be the vendors and the awesome one of a kind finds. Some of this years featured/top vendors are: Wicked Fairytale, The Booth Brothers, The Original Pumpkin Teeth, Nora Custer Designs, Erik Stitt, Michael Kulick, Lunatick Cosmetics, Layla Cherrie and GhostStop.com. For full vendor list, CLICK HERE.

The SacreFest Film Festival is now accepting submissions. If you have a piece that you would like to enter, you can request a submission form from John Thompsett via email at jthompsett@msn.com.

New for this year is the “Bill Me Later” option. If you are using paypal to purchase your tickets, the awesome folks at ScareFest are now allowing you to choose “Bill Me Later”, so now you can reserve your passes and pay later.
