Another Shocking Premier As Sons of Anarchy Begins Season 7

10629759_10152710317863291_7885903379035998897_n

Last night millions tuned in for the premier of what promises to be the most shocking season of Sons of Anarchy. For months now, show creator Kurt Sutter has teased fans with short trailers, small glimpses at stills and cryptic messages via social media, but last night the wait came to an end. Last night’s premier of the FX hit series was the most shocking season opener to date.

Last night’s episode was aptly titled Black Widower. The opening scene started soft with scenes featuring Gemma taking care of Able and Thomas set to a beautiful cover of the song Never My Love, but in true SOA fashion quickly made a 180 with a scene of Jax doing something in prison to help gain an ally. This particular scene is not for the faint of heart. This scene set up the appearance of season 7’s first new faces, a Neo-Nazi played by none other than shock rocker Marilyn Manson.

As many may have guessed from previews of this episode, Jax is released early, and from there the mayhem only gets worse (in a good way). Wendy checks herself out of rehab early, and when she returns to her apartment, she finds out that Gemma has moved someone in to hide out. Wendy and Gemma hatch a plan to continue to hide this individual by telling Jax that she will be staying with Gemma to help her look after the boys. With Jax back at the head of the table, he asks everyone one question, “are you ready to kill or die for the man sitting next to you?” With everyone vowing to be all in with him, Jax and the crew head out to assist another MC, The Grimm Bastards. While helping them get information about an incident, the men refused to give up any information, so in true SAMCRO fashion, the “drug” it out of him. The man just happened to be in a wheel chair and did not have legs, I will leave it at that for those who have yet to see it.

Gemma and Nero rekindle their romance, but the main question for the night was of course, if Jax was going to find Gemma out. The answer to that (spoiler alert) is no. Jax has a sit down with Lin and Alvarez to work out some business, but there is another reason for the sit down. Jax invites them all to a welcome home party that the MC is throwing for him, but for another bit of business than working things out with the Irish. Gemma does point her finger at someone she “saw” leaving Jax’s house the night that Tara was murdered. After the party, the accused is caught and Jax exacts his revenge in a hard to watch, bloody manner. If you are not good with torture scenes, I would suggest not watching this part. It makes what the club did to O’Neil in season 3 look like a Boy Scout camping trip. Jax is a man on a mission and hell bent on destroying anyone that gets in the way.

I must say that I was impressed with how much was handled in the 90 minute premier. Kurt Sutter and his writing team have really out done themselves with this episode. If the rest of the season is this bloody and fast paced, the final ride is going to be one for the history books. Black Widower may have been 90 minutes, but after such a long wait and how incredible the episode was, I was bummed when it ended. This was by far the best premier that Sons of Anarchy has had in it’s 7 season run.

Tune in next Tuesday at 10pm on FX  for more mayhem and SAMCRO.

NEW Sons of Anarchy Season 7 Trailer and Poster

Sons-of-Anarchy-FX-poster-season-7-2014Since the shocking end of season 6, Sons of Anarchy fans have eagerly been awaiting the triumphant return of the hit series. With such a climactic ending to last season and this being the shows final run, season 7 should be one crazy thrill ride.

Sons of Anarchy returns to FX on Tuesday, September 9th at 10 pm with a 90 minute premiere. The cast announcements for this coming season alone have been enough to get excited about. Added to the already incredible roster are shock rocker Marilyn Manson, grunge rocker Courtney Love and television sweetheart Lea Michele (Glee). How will each new addition impact the show? Only time will tell, but with a new mix of personalities like that, I’m sure it will be explosive.

There have been a series of small teaser trailers that have hit the internet and television since San Diego Comic Con, but in the past week there has been a more in depth trailer released that raises a lot of questions for this coming season. Show creator Kurt Sutter has also been adding fuel to the fire that is the SOA fandom via his twitter. If you follow him, you may have seen him drop little hints like someone maybe getting their head crushed by a vehicle etc leaving the savage Sons fans wanting more.

A few questions that have arisen in my mind after seeing the trailer and some of the stills that have been released are as follows, one of the shorter trailers shows what sons-of-anarchy-set-photo-season-7-twitterappears to be Jax in bed with a blonde woman, is this woman Wendy? In the new extended version, Gemma and Nero seem to be getting along, does this mean that they will be rekindling their romance from the past seasons? Juice is quite obviously on the run, but is it for the betrayals that Jax discovered last season or did he take the fall for Gemma and did Jax find out? Which brings in another familiar face, Unser. Unser is seen talking to both Gemma and Juice in the preview, and Jax is seen at Gemma’s door but brushes past her to punch a guy in the face. Is that guy Unser? If so, does Unser know the truth or was there yet another betrayal? Wendy comes back into the picture in this newer preview as well. She is cradling and feeding Thomas, does this mean she is caring for the boys or did she do something stupid?

You can watch this new preview via the show’s IMDB page by clicking here.

There is no question that the final season of Sons of Anarchy is going to be one for the ages, and all of these new promotional videos and pictures are only further solidifying that thought. The only way to have all of these questions answered is to tune into Sons of Anarchy on FX.

Sons of Anarchy: “You Are My Sunshine”

tumblr_mwjqmmhrxp1s5hh54o1_r2_500

After an extra week to wait for a new episode of Sons of Anarchy, the wait was finally over last night.  Season 6 has been full of violence, deception and heartbreaking decisions.

Last night’s episode was titled “You Are My Sunshine”Kurt Sutter has always been cryptic in the titles he gives each episode, but I think last nights was self explanatory.

Last night brought a lot of the actions of SAMCRO and the others involved with them full circle.  Juice has been struggling for a while with the things that he has done, betraying the club, setting up the former president and now planning and watching the death of Clay.  Juice has been on the path to a major melt down since the club’s business with the cartel.  Last night he was at his lowest. He stole pills from Bobby and headed to Diosa for some “relaxation”.  After talking with LylaJuice tries to overdose in the bathroom at Diosa, but Gemma and Nero come to his aide making him throw the pills up. While drugged up, Juice tells Nero that he is the one that killed his cousin’s old lady under the instruction of Jax.  This leaves a lot of questions concerning Juice’s and Nero’s future with SAMCRO.  Will Juice continue to try to kill himself?  When the club finds out about the suicide attempt, this being his second, what will they do with him? “Sons don’t kill themselves”.  Since Juice ratted on Jax, how will Jax handle another betrayal from him, if he finds out?  Now that Nero knows what really happened, will he sever ties with the club?

The next situation was the club pulling away from the gun business, the IRA and the issues with the Chinese.  Jax betrayed a lot of people himself last night.  The first betrayal came when the club lured Connor’s men into a barn.  Once they had them in the barn, they shot them and delivered their bodies and the shipment of guns they had to the Chinese.  That was not a good enough offering to get Happy back from them, now they want Connor himself.  To save Happy, the club hands over Connor, but once they release Happy, the club opens fire on the Chinese saving Connor and opening a new business opportunity.  After SAMCRO took out Lin’s uncle and his men, they convinced Connor and The Kings to do business with August Marks.

Tara has been nothing short of confusing and conflicted for the entire season.  In the previous episode, she went to DA Patterson to offer up the bullet she pulled from Bobby for immunity and protection for her and the kids. Patterson accepted the deal, but now what does Tara do?  It is very clear that she loves Jax and does not want to hurt him or rat him out, but now the DA knows she holds crucial evidence against the MC.  Towards the end of the episode, Tara goes to Gemma’s house after a quick phone call to make sure Gemma goes to the cabin instead of coming home, she pulls a gun on Unser and Wendy.  As Able is walking out the door, Wendy yells to him that she is his mother.  Tara then hits Wendy and takes off with the boys.  I was convinced that she was going to Patterson’s office, but she ends up at a motel, stiffing Patterson.  Before everyone says “death to Tara”, think about the situation, she had no choice but to take off and lay low.  The DA knows she has evidence of the club’s involvement in the take down of Clay’s transport.  She now becomes an accessory to this crime on top of her own murder charges.

I for one can not wait for next week’s season 6 finale.  There are so many questions that need answering and so much karma that will be coming around.  Season 6 has been my favorite episode of Sons of Anarchy to date.

Sons of Anarchy “Aon Rud Persanta”

PHflTBhPuGeTji_1_mI know I have not covered Sons of Anarchy in a while, but after last night’s wild ride, I figured I would do a bit of a recap and offer my opinions of the show.

Last night marked the 11th episode of the ever shocking season 6.  So far this season we have seen the deaths of Otto, Filthy Phil and V Lin, the relationship between SAMCRO and the IRA implode and Tara attempting to pull Thomas and Able away from the club, Gemma and Charming.  “Aon Rud Persanta”,which translates to “nothing personal”, did not offer any rest or solace from the deceit and violence.

00_CharlieLast night, we witnessed the dawning of a new era for SAMCRO.  I must say, I am not 100% shocked by the events that unfolded.  I think Clay had a clue as to what was about to come for him and his future when he saw Jax and the rest of SAMCRO instead of Galen and his men breaking him out.  Jax asked Clay before he took him to meet Mr. Mayhem what he would do about explaining the bodies to the Connor and the rest of the IRA, and Jax agreed with him.  Jax knew the only way to stay alive and to fully get his club out of guns was to kill the two men that posed the biggest threat, Clay and Galen.  Even remarking to Connor that it would have been the two of them on the floor if that hadn’t of happened, and I think he was absolutely right.   This poses a new question, is Jax the new Clay or did he make the right decision for his club by eliminating their biggest obstacles?

I don’t see Jax turning into Clay, but Kurt Sutter is not new to shocking us.  Besides, Jax did not make that decision on his own like06_Perlman Clay would have.  The whole club made the call.  I believe the deaths of Clay and Galen were absolutely necessary for the club to move in the right direction, I mean come on, Clay and Galen are no strangers to murder and deceit.  Who’s to say the two of them would let SAMCRO out of the business?  It was also a smart business move on Jax’s part basically forcing the hand of the IRA to deal with August Marks or lose the business to the Chinese.  I really don’t see the IRA laying down and taking this on the chin, I think the blood has only just begun and Charming and the rest of Northern California is about to become a full on war zone.

08_SagalThere were a lot of confusing emotions in last night’s episode.  Clay looked to almost be repenting for all that he has done with the way that he looked at Gemma and Jax before he was killed.  Gemma mourned Clay taking his death much harder than expected.  Perhaps the most confusing of all was Tara.  She wants out of the club life, but she rushes in to save Bobby, she grabs Jax’s hand and looks in his eyes almost apologetically and offers Gemma comfort in the car.  Tara seems to want her family whole, but she is completely torn between her freedom, the man she loves and the safety of her boys.  A lot of people are calling her a crazy bitch, but the moves being made by her all make sense.

What about Jax’s deal with Patterson?  He delivered Galen and the guns.  She never said Galen had to be alive.  She said her deal 09_Siffdidn’t include a pile of dead bodies, but she also did not say that it didn’t.  Is she going to pull her deal and put the screw to SAMCRO?  Probably, I mean Tara is offering her up some pretty substantial evidence against the club, but is she really going to hand over the bullet from the sheriff’s gun covered in Bobby’s DNA after she saved his life, wouldn’t that make her an accessory?  Judging by the preview for the next episode, she is not going to give Patterson what she wants. It is going to be very interesting to say the least to see how this whole mess plays out.  My only complaint is that we have to wait two weeks to find out.

There are only two episodes left of season 6 and there is a lot left to touch on.  I have seen so many people complaining about how season 6 is playing out, but I think Kurt Sutter is a genius.  The life of an MC is not a glamorous one and shit like this happens.  What Sutter is doing with the evolution of his characters and story lines is nothing short of amazing.  Would you rather it be the same snoozefest season after season and everyone live happily ever after?  It really doesn’t happen that way.  If all the Sutter haters think they can do better, I would really love to see them try.  Before he began working on Sons of Anarchy, he did his research and had the balls to push every envelope that could be pushed to show everyone what that life for many and their families are really like.  I have a tremendous amount of respect for Kurt and the hard work he puts into this show and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for the future of SAMCRO and the prequel I have been hearing so much about.

Recap/Review: ‘Sons of Anarchy” 6×6 “Salvage”

After last weeks intense episode filled with betrayal, violence and explosions, how will SAMCRO handle the aftermath?

Recap:

SoA_606_Salvage_0386Salvage” opens with Jax and Chibs walking through the remains of the Clubhouse assessing the damage.  The scene is rather heavy.  Jax sees his father’s bike under a pile of rubble.  Jax sits with his head in his hands and begins to talk to Chibs.  He says “I did this“, Chibs finds the gavel in the shattered remains of the chapel and hands it to Jax. Upon doing so, he says “we’re gonna fix this brother” to comfort Jax.

Outside of the Clubhouse, Roosevelt and the rest of the police force are conducting their investigation of the blast. Jax and Chibs approach Roosevelt.  Roosevelt explains to them that he has a pretty good idea what happened to with the blast.  Jax begins to talk to him and tries to reassure him that nothing like this will happen again in Charming, but Roosevelt is not convinced saying, “everything SAMCRO does comes back to haunt them.”  Jax continues to be straight forward with Roosevelt attempting to mend fences and come to an understanding.

Nero was picked up and taken to the station for the murder of the Diosa girl.  Gemma shows up to visit him and the officers will not let her in to see him.  She makes a scene and raises hell.  She eventually gets herself arrested after she shoves an officer.  They put her in the holding cell with Nero and they have a discussion about what happened the night before, their future together and the future of Nero working with the MC.

Since they no longer have a Clubhouse, Jax and the rest of SAMCRO meet at Gemma’s house to discuss their next move.  Tara and the boys are also there and Jax tells her of their plans to go to Chester to meet up with their brothers from the north.  Tara tells Jax she is going to St. Thomas for an ultrasound to check the baby.   They are interrupted by Happy who tells Jax he has a “long distance” call.  Jax returns to the table with his crew and takes the call.  It is Galen and the Kings.  They offer the club a sort of peace treaty.  Galen informs them that they will lose the gun profit and that they want Clay handling the distribution for them.  Galen says “we all want the same thing Jax.” Jax tells them that they will cut Connor and the others loose and taken by surprise, Rourke says “they’re still alive?” In response Jax tells him “yes, I told you, I didn’t want a war.”

Gemma arrives home and meets up with Jax outside.  Jax tells her that he needs her to go see Clay again to tell him to take the deal from the Irish.  Of course she gets emotional because of what happened the last time she went to visit Clay.  She still does not tell Jax about what happened.  She then agrees to go.

Back at the police station, Roosevelt tells DA Patterson that he does not believe that Nero killed the girl and that he believes he was set up, but he does not disclose his suspicions of Toric.  Tara goes to St. Thomas and Unser tags along with her.  Outside of her office, she explains the basics of her plans to him and they are interrupted by an emotional Wendy.  Tara calms Wendy down and tells her that she has arranged some time for her to play with Able at the daycare in the hospital.

The boys of SAMCRO hit the road and head for Chester.  We all know that they can not just have a peaceful ride from point A to point B.  They are pulled over in a town called Eden and harassed by the local law enforcement.  The officers harass the guys about their cuts and their bikes telling them that gang colors are illegal in their town and that there was a delivery of motorcycles that was robbed and they want to check the guy’s bikes for stolen parts. Juice, annoyed by the pushy cops starts an argument with one of them.  They cuff Juice to his bike and shoot out his tires.  This unleashes hell as a fight breaks out between the two dirty cops and SAMCRO.  Chibs uncuffs Juice and Jax informs the cops that they are on to their scam.  Of course Tig chimes in with the Tig charm we all know and love saying “yeah I’ve seen Smokey and the Bandit a 100 times, love that movie.”  Backup arrives and a chase ensues.  Juice take one of the officer’s bikes and pulls some “cowboy” moves and effectively ends the chase.  The chase being over, the boys arrive at Three Point Lodge without another incident.  They are greeted by Jerry, the other brothers from the north and a very familiar face, Bobby.  Bobby tells Jax that he needs to talk to him alone after the meeting.

Gemma arrives at Stockton to talk to Clay.  She tells him about the Irish blowing up the Clubhouse the night before and that Jax needs him to accept the IRA‘s offer.  She then goes on to tell him about Nero being framed and picked up by the cops.  She asks him if he thinks Toric would really go that far.  He tells her that Toric was a psychopath and tells her what he had done to Otto, what he had threatened to have done to him and why Otto killed him.

Back in Chester, Jax gathers everyone around a table and begins his speech.  He tells them that he wants the Sons of Anarchy out of the gun business.  He tells everyone of his plans of going legit and he even pulls on the heartstrings of the group by bringing up Opie’s death and the other SOA deaths that have been tied to the gun business.  He receives a warm reception to his new ideas from the club.  Everyone seems to be on board.

Gemma returns to Roosevelt’s office eager to share what Clay had told her about Toric.  Instead of finding Roosevelt in his office, she finds DA Patterson.  Roosevelt walks in and Gemma shares the information that she has on Toric.  When she leaves, Roosevelt tells Patterson that she needs to get in front of the situation before it blows negativity back on her and her case.  Patterson gives Roosevelt permission to search Toric’s hotel room.  In Toric’s room, they find several guns and prescriptions.  The bathroom had been bleached, but Roosevelt notices a rug out of place.  When he moves it, the carpet had been cut up and pieced together.  Under the carpet was a tile floor with evidence of bullet holes.  Roosevelt shares their findings with Patterson, but she is not so eager to admit to herself that Toric is the guilty party and says that they need to continue to process Nero and charge him with the murder.

Jax gets a call from Tara checking up on him.  He asks her about the baby and she tells him everything is fine.  Jax says “you know this one’s a girl right?” “She’s going to be strong and beautiful like her mother.”  This seems to make Tara kind of doubt what she is doing.  She also learns that Patterson wants to meet with her and offer her a deal.

Bobby catches up with Jax and hands him some papers.  Jax assumes that it is his transfer request, but it is not his transfer request but the requests of some other members wanting to patch over to Redwood.  Jax then realizes that Bobby did not leave to try to resurrect the Nomads, but to recruit new members for SAMCRO.  Bobby is back.

Patterson meets with Tara at St. Thomas and offers her a deal that Tara is not happy with at all.  The deal is, Tara gives up Jax and she walks away free.  She declines the offer.  It is starting to look like Tara may be regretting her decisions as of late.

Gemma heads to Diosa and Lyla tells her that a friend of Nero’s is in his room.  Gemma heads in to see who it is. Another familiar face.  It’s none other than Venus, the tranny.  Venus tells Gemma why he is there, about his past and that Nero was pretty much his guardian angel when he was younger.  He is shaken by someone that is after him and Gemma reassures him that he is safe there.  Will we be seeing more of the lovely Venus?

Remembering the card the cop gave him and the earlier events, Jax leads the boys to the chop shop where their bikes were going to be taken.  Upon entering, they find Juice’s bike completely stripped and all of the stolen bikes that the cops had mentioned.  Jax gets the guy in the shop to call the dirty cops to the shop.

Back at St. Thomas, Patterson enters the bathroom, washes her face and removes her wig revealing messy braided hair.  She looks in the mirror and says, “time to go hood sista.”  On her way out, she runs into Tara.  She informs Tara to tell her lawyer that her trial has been bumped up and that she will be prosecuting it herself.

The dirty cops enter the shop and are met by a room full of SAMCRO with smiles on their faces.  Jax strikes a deal with them by blackmailing them about the stolen items the found in the shop.  Juice also gets a new bike.  Jax also gets the cops to individually apologize to each of his guys in a very humiliating fashion.

Review:

Well the energy of this episode is vastly different from that of last week’s.  I am really not liking Patterson, she’s seeming almost as nuts as Toric.

I’m still not too sure what Tara is going to do.  I’m not sure if she needs sympathy or a smack upside the head.  I really don’t think that Sutter is going to have her do the obvious.  Something is going to happen to change her mind.  I think Unser is going to out her because of something that I seen in the preview for next week and his reactions to what Tara had told him and to Wendy.

I liked the change of pace in “Salvage“.  It was nice to see peace for a change, but I think the explosion at the Clubhouse was just the beginning.  I don’t think the Irish are going to be leaving SAMCRO alone any time soon.

I am really looking forward to the upcoming episodes.

Recap/Review: ‘The Walking Dead’: Season 4 Episode 1: “30 Days Without An Accident”

The long wait for season 4 of the AMC hit show, ‘The Walking Dead‘, was finally ended last night with the premier of episode one, “30 Days Without An Accident“.  When we left our favorite group of walker killing survivors at the end of season 3, The Governor went even crazier and is now MIA, a few key members were killed, Daryl was getting over the loss of his brother and the prison group was welcoming the citizens from Woodbury which left a lot of questions for season 4.  Will Daryl finally get some?  Will The Governor finally get what’s coming to him?  Will the merger of the prison group and the citizens of Woodbury work out?  Will the group finally find a little peace and some time to catch their breath?

iRecap:

Season four of ‘The Walking Dead‘ picks up about 6-7 months after the showdown with The Governor, and the prison seems to be a peaceful sanctuary from the nightmares outside of the walls and fences.  The prison has been transformed into a community complete with a small farm with animals and crops that Rick and Hershel tend to to help feed their growing group.

At the end of season three, Carl shot a boy in the woods after the showdown at the prison.  Because of this, Rick has become somewhat anti-gun and stepping up to more of a father role as apposed to his role in previous seasons as the hero and leader of the entire group.  His focus is more on Carl and giving him the most “normal” childhood he possibly can given the circumstances.

The walkers have been a problem for them even inside the prison walls.  This has not changed, but now they are threatening the fences that keep the prison safe from them.  The walkers have begun to gather and push at the fences.

Daryl is again kind of the white knight of the group.  He is finding new people to bring in to their new little “community” and he still goes out hunting to help provide food for the surviving group.  Carol still seems to have it pretty bad for the badass with a heart of gold.  Their relationship has become even more playful and flirty than it has been in the past.  Carol even gives Daryl an adorable little nickname that he so shyly reacts to.  Their interactions in last night’s show will definitely make the “Caryl” fans very happy and it certainly makes the possibility of a hookup look more promising.

Let’s not forget about the prisons most loved couple, besides Daryl and his crossbow, Glenn and Maggie.  When we left them last season, they had gotten engaged and seemed incredibly happy.  When we see them in last night’s premier, they are just waking up and talking about a run that the group has planned.  We all know Maggie is one badass chick that is quite capable of taking care of herself, but Glenn has a problem with his bride-to-be going out on the run with the others and he talks her into staying.

With the merger of the two groups as well as newcomers that Daryl and Rick bring in, there is bound to be some new love connections.  Not even the big man Tyreese is safe from cupid’s arrow.  He now has a bit of a relationship going with one of the ladies from Woodbury.  Adorable little Beth even has herself a boyfriend, but with the whole zombie apocalypse thing going on, can things really end up happily ever after?

Michonne come riding up on a horse and she has been away for a little bit.  She has been going out on runs of her own trying to track down The Governor.

Our favorite one legged farmer, Hershel, has a surprise.  Like Lt. Dan, Hershel has a new leg!  There is no explanation given in the episode for how Hershel acquired his new appendage, so let the minds wander.  Hershel has a couple of discussions with Rick, one of them is pretty funny.  Hershel also brings up another aspect from the graphic novels, The Council.

Rick goes out to check the snares that have been placed in the woods to help bring in more food, and this is definitely a very bizarre trip for him.  While out, he comes across a wild hog and just as he goes to approach it, a woman that appears to be a walker approaches it first.  As Rick goes to walk away,  the woman speaks to him, she is not a walker, but a woman down on her luck living in the woods with her husband.  She and Rick have a talk about them joining the prison group, but Rick wants to meet her husband first, so they set off towards her camp.

Carl has had some issues and has become fairly hard to say the least.  In the beginning of the episode, it looked as though Carl wasn’t going to be such a little jerk, but that is short lived when he comes across a group of the other kids from the prison hanging out by the fence naming the walkers.  He has a very “Carl moment” with a very sassy little girl who kind of stuns him a bit.

Daryl leads a group out on a run to the local “Big Spot” store for supplies.  In the first scene of the run, Daryl shows a more care-free, funny side while he jokes around outside the store with Beth’s boyfriend Zach.  He has definitely come a very long way from the bitter, hard redneck we met in season one.

The remainder of the show flips back and forth between Rick and the crazy lady from the woods and the group on the run.  Back to Rick and crazy lady, Rick is walking with her back to her camp and she becomes even weirder the closer they come to her camp.  The run that Daryl and the others are on seems to be peaceful with minimal walker interruption, but we just can’t have that now can we?  The walkers were not in the store, but chilling at a crashed helicopter on the roof.  The roof is leaking a bit of water which can only mean bad things.  As the walkers hear the movement and banging around inside the store below, they begin to walk across the roof, then all hell breaks loose.  For the first time in ‘TWD‘ history, walkers begin to fall through the ceiling, it was literally raining walkers.

Back to crazy lady and formally crazy Rick, their conversation has become quite heavy.  They talk about what each of them has had to do to stay alive in the new crazy world.  On the run, Daryl and crew are forced to fight a horde of walkers falling from the ceiling and to make matters worse, remember that crashed helicopter on the roof?  Well it is tired of being up there and decides it wants to slowly begin to crash through the ceiling along with the walkers and it’s coming in down just above Daryl who is trying to fight off a group of walkers.  In badass Daryl fashion, with the help of Glenn and Zach, he gets out of the way just as the helicopter comes crashing in.

Now at camp crazy, the woman bends down to a burlap sack and begins talking to it, that’s when Rick realizes that the woman’s husband had turned and she kept his head in a bag.  desperate to feed her walker head husband, the woman attempts a sneak attack on Rick.  Rick counters and the woman falls to the ground.  Upon standing up, she gives Rick a sob story and says “we cannot come back from the things we’ve done” and she tells Rick she wants to be with her husband and she tells him not to end it when she’s done.  After saying that, she stabs herself.

Back at the prison, Carol is in the library reading to the kids.  When she is finished with the story, she pulls out a small case of knives.  like any good teacher in a zombie apocalypse, she teaches the kids “knife fighting 101”.  Glenn and Maggie have a discussion in the privacy of their own room about starting a family.  Glenn of course against it because of what happened to Lori and all the other craziness going on around them, Maggie tells him “I don’t want to be afraid of being in love“.  Cliff hanger with them and their discussion.

Daryl finds Beth in her cell and delivers the bad new that her boyfriend had been bitten by a walker on the run.  Beth, normally very emotional, seems to have a very cold, detached reaction to the news saying “okay” to Daryl after he tells her.  Daryl seems a bit shocked at the change in her.  She walks over to a desk and on the desk is a work accident counter.  It says “30 days without an accident“, hence the episode title, on it and Beth removes the 3 resetting it to zero.  She walks over to Daryl and says “I don’t cry anymore Daryl” and embraces him.  The embrace and the look in Beth’s eyes seemed to give room to a possible hookup between the two of them in the future.

Rick, haunted by the woman in the woods and the things that she said to him, has a a pretty serious discussion with Hershel.  Hershel reassures Rick that you can come back from the things you’ve done and that people really can change.

At the end of “30 Days Without An Accident“, the peace in the prison looks to be in jeopardy and a real problem is about to rise inside the prison.

Review:

Last night’s premier was quite different from the premiers of past seasons.  It was kind of nice to see a season start off on a peaceful note.

The shift in the dynamic of the prison is very refreshing and the character evolution is incredible.  Seeing sweet little Beth becoming the hard one and hard ass Daryl become the sweetheart is quite a change, but those changes are making for a more interesting show.  The way that Norman Reedus portrays Daryl is nothing short of amazing.  His talent and experience allows him to take Daryl through these changes and make them believable.

I know it may seem mean that the writers are giving the group hope only to yank the rug out from under them after all they have already been through, but they are in a zombie apocalypse.  Not everything can be sunshine and rainbows or the show would fall flat in just a couple of episodes.  I commend the writers on the bold decisions they have made thus far.

Season four could perhaps be the best one yet.  I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds.

Recap/Review: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Season 6 Episode 5 ‘The Mad King’

SOA-The-Mad-King-590x388Well the boys of SAMCRO sure can not catch a break.  Feds breathing down their necks about a school shooting, not sure if Clay is going to rat, 3 more dead bodies and now some seriously pissed off Irish Kings out for blood.  Last night’s episode of ‘Sons of Anarchy‘, so aptly named ‘The Mad King‘, sure did not offer any solace for the Charming crew.

Recap:

The Mad King‘ opens with SAMCRO staking out Galen and his crew to exact vengeance for what they have done to their club.  The club and their family members are all on lock down in hopes that they can keep everyone safe from the wrath of the IRA and their bloody antics.  While on lock down at the Clubhouse, Gemma bumps into a very down in the dumps Chucky, who we all know was very close to Otto with Otto having saved his life in prison.  Gemma has a bit of a heart felt moment with Chucky.

SAMCRO’s all night stakeout does not seem to be paying off until Jax and Happy spot some activity at a warehouse. Jax catches up to one of the guys and gets information from him the SAMCRO way, by sticking a rather large knife through his hand.  The Irishman gives up the dirt and Jax lets him go.  They find out that Galen has already fled the country and that Connor is planning to do the same thing.  Jax and Happy get the whereabouts of Connor and devise a plan.

With the murder of one of the Diosa girls looming, Roosevelt seems very confused on what to do.  He has the DA breathing down his neck about finding someone to hold responsible for the school shooting, and of course, their prime target is none other than SAMCRO.  As we learned last week, Roosevelt is privy to Toric and his game, but this puts him in a tough spot.  Does he follow his gut and out Toric or does he go with his badge and pin everything on SAMCRO and bring Nero down for the girl’s murder?  He lets higher-ups and his curiosity get the best of him and he begins to tail Jax and Nero when they head up to their new business venture, the potential extension of Diosa.  A new friend runs him off and gives Jax and Nero a heads up.

Back a the Clubhouse, Unser is playing with Able and Tara checks his bandage after Able swings into him.  While she is doing so, he questions Tara about the, what he calls, the “coven” that he walked in on in Tara’s office the previous day.  After questioning her, he asks her if she needs his help.

As we are well aware of by now, former SAMCRO President Clay Morrow is tucked away in Stockton Prison.  While in his cell, he gets a visit from the book cart.  The man pushing the book cart has a very familiar accent, an Irishman. He hands Clay a book and gives him a page number.  Inside the book is a message from an old friend of Clay’s making him a very interesting offer.  If he accepts the offer, it could cripple the club.

After carrying out a very sly plan, SAMCRO catches up with Connor.  Jax takes Connor’s phone and calls the Irish Kings.  He reaches out hoping to broker peace, but will the go for it or will the words of Galen keep this feud going?

The former queen of the castle, Gemma, is back to doing what she does best, playing the guilt card.  She and Chucky pay Wendy a visit at work.  Gemma pulls at Wendy’s heart strings, even offering up baby pictures of Able.  Gemma’s visit makes Wendy question everything she is doing for Tara.

Clay sets up a visit with Gemma and when she goes to see him, she brings him up to speed on all that has happened in Charming with the Irish and Jax.  During this visit, it would appear that he really is turning over a leaf.  He fills Gemma in on the offer he received.  Old habits die hard, so can Clay really be trusted? Upon trying to leave, Gemma is confronted by two guards.  They shove her back into the room and force her and Clay to get a bit closer to get a bit close for comfort for their “entertainment”.

Chibs fills Jax in on the conversation that Gemma had with Clay.  It’s not a huge secret that these two have some tension, with Chibs feeling that Jax is making too many moves on his own.  The conversation gets a bit heated, but it would appear as though these two are hashing things out and putting the previous events behind them, I mean come on, they much more important things to worry about.

Jax makes another call to the Kings.  He wants to know if they have an answer to his proposal.  They tell him they will contact him with an answer at 8pm.  Jax tells them that he will have a full table for the call.

Gemma tells Nero what happened during her visit with Clay.  This just adds to the growing issues he has been having since he teamed with Jax.  Will this be too much and will Nero run for the hills?

Roosevelt gets the DNA results from Nero’s truck.  He knows Nero is innocent, but with Toric being dead now and so much heat on him, what will he do?  Roosevelt follows his badge and heads for the SAMCRO Clubhouse.

Jax and crew are hanging out at the Clubhouse waiting on the call from the Kings.  While waiting at the bar, Jax spots a familiar item that we see at an earlier time in the show and a mysterious keg.  He calls Chucky in and he tells Jax where it came from.  Jax puts 2 and 2 together and figures it out.  Panic ensues as he and Chibs clear the Clubhouse.  ‘The Mad King‘ delivered one shocking, explosive ending.

What is next for SAMCRO?

Review:

Well what can I say?  This season has been incredible thus far.  The conflict, fear, anger and revenge are certainly making for a very intense season.   ‘The Mad King‘ was the perfect combination of everything that we the viewers love to see on the show.

Tara is confusing the crap out of me.  Is she coming or going?  For those of you that think you have it figured out, I wouldn’t count on it.  Kurt Sutter is not famous for giving away the direction of the season this early on.

I feel like Jax was back to the old Jax last night.  He is making the right calls and the evolution of his character has been one hell of a roller coaster ride.  I’m really liking the direction they are taking him.

I am definitely looking forward to the rest of this season.

Recap/Review: Sons of Anarchy Season 6 Episode 4 ‘Hands Off’

SoA-604-Recap_320x240WOW! Last night’s episode was beyond intense.  Kurt Sutter titled this episode ‘Hands Off‘ very appropriately (I will not tell you why).  There was no skimping on the blood, violence and deceit.

Recap:

Starting at the beginning of the  the episode, Jax gets a very surprising visit early in the morning.  I must say that I did not see this coming.  Jax’s visitor was the last person I expected to see again.  Jax was not the only person to receive a very odd early morning wake up.  Unser’s visit was much less pleasant than Jax’s.

One of my favorite things about ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ is the guest stars that they bring on.  The first special guest to join the ranks was none other than the badass Robert Patrick.  Mr. Patrick played the President of the San Bernardino  charter of Sons of Anarchy.  He is no stranger to the MC life, he is a proud member of the real life Boozefighters MC.  The next special guest was Jason Voorhees from the 2009 adaption of ‘Friday the 13th‘, Derek Mears.  Mr. Mears may be a comedian, but he is no stranger to playing large, scary individuals.  Derek played a member of Darby’s former crew.

With Jax attempting to clean up SAMCRO’s act, he is making a lot of calls outside of the club.  In ‘Hands off‘, Chibs give Jax a piece of his mind at the table about Jax’s new calls.  These two kind of bump heads more than once and there is a lot of obvious unspoken tension between them.

Speaking of Darby, he made an appearance last night.  He is not the same white power enforcing, drug dealing Darby that we used to know.  He has turned his bad on the Aryan Brotherhood and has completely turned himself around.  *SPOILER ALERT* Darby is now married to a Mexican girl and trying to keep his nose clean.  Because there was an issue with some of the Aryan crew, Jax and the rest of SAMCRO pay Darby a visit.  After convincing SAMCRO that he is no longer involved with his former crew, he works with SAMCRO to help them get to the bottom of some things involving his former brothers.

Tara’s behavior has become more shady and way more distant.  She is getting help in her crazy endeavors form two people that are no strangers to the club.  What is she really up to?  I think she could really go either way.  Kurt Sutter is not known for making his characters and their actions obvious, especially not this soon in the season.

For those of us that seen last week’s episode, we know Toric and his crazy pants know no bounds.  We also witnessed Toric do something very underhanded to try to frame a friend of the club.  Sheriff Roosevelt collects Nero and his tuck, but has some serious doubt that Nero is the one that murdered the girl.  He has a new suspect and for very good reason.  Nero is trying to get away from his violent past.  He and Gemma have a very serious discussion about their future together and his future as a partner to SAMCRO.

I had mentioned that ‘Hands Off‘ was a very bloody episode.  SAMCRO pay a group a visit and it turns bloody.  There is a very bloody confrontation with a group that SAMCRO has been in business with since John Teller sat at the head of the table.  There are three deaths on SAMCRO’s side.  Only one of which is one that I have been suspecting.  All of the death scenes in this episode were very violent and horror movie worthy.

Toric and his psycho antics continue to push Clay into ratting out the club.  He threatens Clay with the same punishment that he has brought down upon Otto.  Clay gets to visit an old friend in Stockton thanks to Mr. Toric.  He tries to use the opportunity to scare Clay into signing his papers.

At the end, we bid a very violent farewell to someone that wants SAMCRO gone and an equally as gory farewell to someone that has been a part of SAMCRO since the beginning.

Review:

Hands Off‘ was hands down (haha see what I did there) one of the best episodes I have seen in the six seasons that ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ has been around.

I love how Kurt is taking so many of the characters in different directions.  The intense inner conflicts of the characters make the threats more real and way more believable.

Season 6 is really shaping up to be one of the most intense, violent seasons yet.  There have been far more surprises just in the first four episodes than there has been in the previous five seasons.  I can not wait to see where things are going in Charming.  Will Bobby come back?  Will Tara stay in Charming?  Will Clay finally get it?  Will Tara end up back inside?  Only time will tell.

Recap/Review: ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Episode 3: “For the Triumph of Evil” (with link to watch the episode)

Sleepy-Hollow-Title-624x424I must say that I am thoroughly loving Fox’sSleepy Hollow‘.  Only three episodes in, the series is really becoming intense.  Last night’s episode was called “For the Triumph of Evil” and boy was the episode titled perfectly.

Recap:

Last night, some of the residents of Sleepy Hollow were having some pretty frightening, intense dreams.  In these dreams, they are haunted by a dream demon with hollow eyes and frankly put, looks like a missing member of the Misfits.  This dream demon is a vengeful sort that wishes to right the wrongs of the people he is haunting in dreamland.  When Lt. Mills and Ichabod Crane look into this  dream invader, not so lovingly nicknamed the Sandman, they find that he is linked to Lt. Mills and her past and is seeking vengeance for a past event that all those haunted were involved with that Lt. Mills knows all too much about.

With ‘Sleepy Hollow‘ taking a turn towards demons and the supernatural, the Horseman did not make an appearance in last night’s episode.  “For the Triumph of Evil” was mostly based around the events that took place when Lt. Mills and her sister were lost in the woods, it would seem that those events have a lot to do with the chaos that is unfolding in the lovely town of Sleepy Hollow.

The previous episodes have been packed with a lot of humor to help balance out the horrors of the show, but last night, there was not nearly as much humor.  There were still a few moments that were chuckle worthy, but there were far more dramatic moments filled with tragedy than funny ones.

Lt. Mills and Ichabod Crane strip down a bit and go into dreamland to battle “The Sandman“.  In that moment, Lt. Mills comes to terms with her past wrongs when she comes face to face with the dream demon.

I’m all for crazy couples in television, and I say this because in last night’s episode, there seemed to be a bit of flirtation going on between Ichabod and Miss Mills.  It is not insanely obvious, but if you pay attention, it is there. Speaking of crazy, Orlando Jones‘ character seems to be getting stranger and much more mysterious as the season progresses.

I don’t want to give away what it is, but at the end of the episode Lt. Mills goes to visit her sister, and when she arrives, something is up.

Review:

I know the show is called ‘Sleepy Hollow‘, and when I think of ‘Sleepy Hollow‘, I think of the Headless Horseman.  The Horseman has not had much screen time in the series so far, but I do not mind that.  The introductions to the paranormal and the supernatural the show is giving makes it that much more interesting in my opinion.  In the ‘Sleepy Hollow‘ films, there was witchcraft, but the introduction of demons and apocalyptic horsemen give much more depth to the show and frankly makes the story makes more sense to me.

I am going to continue to watch this show.  I think it is safe to say that I have been sucked into the drama and carnage of ‘Sleepy Hollow

If you missed last night’s episode, below is a link from Fox to watch the full episode (I know this works for US viewers, but I’m not sure about UK).

Recap/Review: Sons of Anarchy: Season 6 Episode 3: ‘Poenitentia’

Jax talking to Toric
Jax talking to Toric

Well Sons of Anarchy season 6 is only three episodes in and things are really heating up.  Everything that could go wrong for SAMCRO and everyone linked to them seems to be happening.

What would a season of Sons of Anarchy be without a resident nut-job?  Lee Toric is getting crazier with each passing episode.  Now he has found a new target.  He will quite obviously stop at nothing until someone pays for the death of his sister, even if they had nothing, directly, to do with it.  In ‘Poenitentia‘, Toric goes above and beyond being one toy shy of a Happy Meal in his attempt to link the school shooting to SAMCRO and their affiliated parties.  What he does is beyond despicable.  What will stop Toric and his position as the mayor of Crazy Town?

With things looking up for Jax’s legit business ventures, despite the fact that he can’t keep it in his pants (I guess he’s just prepping for ‘50 Shades of Grey‘), will he be able to cut ties with the Irish?  We do not see the Irish in this episode, but as the preview for next week will show you, they do make a return to Charming.   Jax does agree to go visit Clay in county before he is set to head back to Stockton for his parole violation.  During his visit, Jax and Clay have about as close to a heart to heart as these two are going to get.  Will Clay sell out his step-son and the club he helped build or will brotherhood be thicker than water?  I am not giving that part away, you’ll have to watch to find out. Perhaps one of the most moving parts of this sit down comes just before Jax leaves.  He turns to the two sided mirror, where he knows Toric is watching on, and says,

I’m sorry about your sister. I can feel how personal this is for you. SAMCRO had nothing to do with her murder. Otto acted alone. He is no longer a member of the club. I don’t care what you do to him (talking about Clay), but if you try to come after my wife, you will feel how personal this is for me

For the moment, it would appear Toric is heeding Jax’s warning.  As I previously mentioned, he has found a new target.  In the midst of all of the craziness, Jax receives some news from his wife, some may say it is good for them while others may think it is bad.  Speaking of Tara, what is her deal?  She is always somewhat distant, but this season she is Buzz Llightyear  spacey.  In previous episodes, we have seen her discussing divorce papers with her lawyer, but she is still holding up to being the loving wife.  Could it be a precaution in case she ends up doing serious time, or is she starting to lose it too?  I guess, for now, only Kurt Sutter and the cast know.

Another lady from Jax’s past makes an appearance in last night’s episode, Wendy.  Since roughly season 3 or season 4, we have seen Wendy try to push for at least visitation with Able.  Now all of a sudden she doesn’t want Tara to name her a legal guardian in her will.  In last night’s episode, Wendy shows some glimpses of the old, crazy junkie Wendy.  What is her angle?  Does she want Jax back?  Maybe she’s pulling an Ima.

What would life in Charming be like without a little lying and back stabbing?  Jax comes to terms with and is ready to make good on an old deal he made last season with hopes that making good on it will help his legit businesses and help to keep SAMCRO’s hands clean, but is he really going to go that far to keep the blood off of his hands?  Another part of this deal is protection for someone.  Possibly the last person you would think Jax would want protection for.  Will Jax follow through with this horrible deal, or does he have another trick up his sleeve?

In the first two episodes of season 6, we have seen Bobby pulling away from SAMCRO and trying to resurrect the Nomads.  In last night’s episode, Bobby meets with two more members of the Sons of Anarchy MC from Reno.  With each passing episode, he looks to be drifting further and further from Charming and SAMCRO.  Will Bobby ever come back, and will SAMCRO let him patch out and become a Nomad?

I must say that season 6 may be my favorite season thus far.  This season is really showing the balls that Kurt Sutter has as a writer and a business man.  Well done sir.  The twists and turns of this season are shaping up to be one hell of a roller coaster ride through hell for SAMCRO.  I love all of the shifts and change ups.  Just when I think I know what is about to happen, the show shifts course and becomes even better.  Sons of Anarchy season 6 has been the most shocking in my opinion and I love that Sutter isn’t afraid to “go there“.  Everyone wants a realistic show right?  What better way to make it realistic and close to home than include some of the horrors that we face everyday?

Below is a preview for next week’s episode ‘Wolfsangel‘, I caution you not to watch it if you haven’t seen last night’s episode.
