Plot: Lollipop Chainsaw is the story of young, beautiful zombie-killer Juliet Starling, her sidekick disembodied-head boyfriend, and the entire Starling family of zombie killers as they team up to stop a colossal zombie outbreak. Leading the zombies are a group of zombie rock and roll lords who do battle with Juliet

I have been hearing a lot about ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ since its 2012 release, so I finally decided to break down and give it a try.

The first thing anyone notices about a product is the packaging.  The cover art for ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ is colorful and attractive.  It’s got an Anime look to it. The cover is appealing to both genders.

The controls during game play are simple to figure out.  While fighting the zombies, you use a grand total of three controls.  I like the simplicity of the controls, but the game itself is way to easy for my liking, I prefer more of a challenge.  Even when a massive horde of zombies approach, it is easy to quickly take them all out.

The level of humor in ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ is pretty high.  Every time Juliet kills a zombie, she says something witty.  The phrases that she says are kind of corny, but actually, pretty funny.

As a fan of horror films and video games, I like a little gore with anything involving zombies.  While there is some blood, with a mature rating, there could have been a little bit more.  My biggest complaint is that when she kills a zombie, rainbows and stars start flying.  I know this is an Anime style game and you are playing the role of a cheerleader, but there is a bit too much camp for my liking.

I’m not going to say that I hate this game, but it really is not my cup of tea.  If you are into Anime and zombies, this is a great game for you.  If you are looking for a gory zombie killing fest, this game is not for you.  ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ is great for beginners.  If you’re new to gaming or new to this style of game, this is a great option for you.

The critics have given ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ an average of 7.6 out of 10.  I am giving it a 6 out of 10.  I liked the cover art, the graphics and the overall story line of the game, but it was way too easy and campy for my taste.
