Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count’s teen-aged daughter.
I know that Hotel Transylvania is a lot different from the other films that I have previously reviewed, but this animated comedy is a good Halloween time or any time film for the whole family. If you want to get the little ones into the monsters that have shaped the horror world, watch Hotel Transylvania with them.
It is clearly not a scary horror movie, but it’snot just for the kids either. There is a lot of adult humor in Hotel Transylvania to keep it funny and interesting for the adults in the room too. I watched it with my 3 year-old nephew, and we both loved it. I will caution that there are a few “surprising” moments that may startle the smaller viewers, but nothing that is going to traumatize them or make them need therapy for the next 20 years.
With the cast of amazingly talented comedians, this is one of the funniest films that I have seen in quite a long time. Adam Sandler makes the funniest Dracula I have ever seen. The dialog between the characters is witty. There is a heart warming lesson at the end of the film, so it’s not all funny, but it’s not a tear jerker either.
I highly recommend this film to anyone looking for a horror-based comedy that could be enjoyed by the entire family without scaring the crap out of your children.
I give Hotel Transylvania a 9 out of 10.
